Threat to Biodiversity in India

India is rich in biodiversity and biological niches. With growing urbanization and deforestation activities, the bio diversities and various Eco-systems are in danger. We should not put our natural resources at stake for the sake of development, instead we should seek for some other alternatives such developing national reserves or national parks to preserve our natural assets.

Agreed! Biodiversity in India would be at peril if nothing is done about it in this fast paced growing nation. Loads of companies are coming up, and more are yet to come, especially the small and medium scale companies. And ironically these wouldn't bother to have any strict environmental regulation adherence.

Biological diversity deals with the degree of nature’s variety in the biosphere.
India has a rich biodiversity.About 33% of the country's recorded flora are endemic to the country and are concentrated mainly in the North-East, Western Ghats, North-West Himalayas and the Andaman and Nicobar islands. But due to habitat destruction, degradation, fragmentation and over-exploitation of resources the rich biodiversity of the country is under severe threat.Biodiversity of the country attracts many foreigners to the country and this serves a lot for the tourism industry.Tourism forms an integral part of our national income and the decline in biodiversity will affect this industry a lot.

India is rich in bio diversity having a total of 89,451 animal species accounting for 7.31% of the faunal species in the world and the flora accounts for 10.78% of the global total. With the increase of population and intensification of agriculture due to market need has lead to slamming of natural resources. There are about 44 plant species that are significantly endangered, 113 endangered and 87 in danger. Among animals, 18 are seriously endangered, 54 endangered and 143 are at risk. Ten species are lower risk conservation reliant, while 99 are lower risk of almost threatened. India is second in terms of the number of threatened mammals, at the same time India ranks sixth in terms of countries having the largest number of threatened birds. It is the duty of every citizen to help the Government in preservation of the nature and its species.

India is a land that has been bestowed with rich natural resources which makes the land also rich in biodiversity. However, it is sad that India's biodiversity is threatened with the increasing growth of industries. Moreover, urbanization has also become a threat to the rich biodiversity. Many animals and plants are endangered due to industrialization.

India is well known for its richness in biodiversity and is an adobe of many endangered species of flora and fauna. However, with massive industrialization, the forests are being cut down and this is leading to pollution as well has hampering the natural habitat of these species and this has become a threat to the biodiversity of our nation. This can be solved only by preventing cutting of trees.
