We have a misconception that High-end laptops that are usually used from gaming or for watching HD movies or even for graphic works faces this problem, but it is a common problem that is faced by any laptop after using it for more than a year or so. To get rid of overheating of laptop, it is important to clean up the dust that gets accumulated in the ventilators through which the hot air passes out. You can install a hardware monitor to keep a check on the temperature of the Laptop. It is essential to use laptop cooler to keep the temperature of your Laptop maintained and you can get rid of overheating of Laptop.

Another tip would be using a Laptop Cooling Pad. This pad comes with a built in fan which runs by the power supplied by laptop. The pad and the laptop are connected by a USB cord. I myself use such a pad to avoid overheating of my laptop. I guess you could give it a shot. Moreover its not expensive.
