Known as the “Queen of Hills”, Mussoorie is a famous hill station of India, situated in the State of Uttarakhand. Located an altitude of 2003m above sea-level in the Garhwal hills, it is about 34 km from Dehradoon. This amzing hill station attracts a horde of travelers from all across the globe and is one of the beautiful Hill stations in India as well as the most frequently visited. It provides exceptional respite to people from the hot humid conditions as well as from the busy city life. Nestled by pine trees, this hill station offers a relaxing as well as rejuvenating environment to the visitors from the bustling city life amidst the beauty of nature. Mussoorie Lake

An artificial lake built on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road, Mussoorie Lake is thronged by visitors visiting Mussoories. The lake is set amidst the beauty of nature, which attracts the tourists to the place. The lake also offers opportunities for boating and is one of the most popular picnic spots of the region. There are several food stalls and tea shops outside the premises of the lake, where visitors can taste different delicacies.

Christ Church

Constructed in 1836, Christ Church is believed to be the oldest existing church in the Himalayan ranges. The church was built by the British community, who once resided in the destination and was visited by Princess of Wales, who later became Queen Mary of England. This church displays Gothic design and architectural styles with the stained glass windows representing the events in the life of Jesus Christ. Besides this, the high altar in the Church presents the sufferings of Jesus Christ. The walls and interiors of the church are beautifully adorned.

The Mall

The Mall is one of the prominent shopping locations situated at the centre of the destination. Dotted with benches and lampposts lined up at the sides of roads, the Mall offers architectural styles of colonial period. The prime attractions of the area include 1980s style video game parlors, the Methodist Church and skating rinks. Tibetans can also be seen in the market place, who sells woolen, fabric wall hangings, imported goods, Tibetan metal ware and a collection of wooden items. Apart from this, walking sticks, bowls, trays, cane baskets and jewelry are the other prominent articles available at the Mall.

Jharipani Falls

Situated close to the village of Jharipani, Jharipani Falls is about 7 km from this village. Ideal for picnic, nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts, it offers a beautiful view of Shivalik range. The surroundings of the falls are adorned with various species of wild flowers, creepers, shrubs and plants, which grow on the mountainous rocks on its sides.

Kempty Falls


Situated at an altitude of 4,500 ft, Kempty Falls is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Mussoorie. It cascades from a height of about 40 ft from a mountain and is located on way between Dehradun-Mussoorie path. The falls is one of the largest among five down rushing falls, which flows down through various rocks and finally enters into the plains. While going 12 km downhill and after crossing the Aglar River, tourists can also reach the Yamuna River. Further, the site is also popular for swimming and fishing activities. The place is visited for taking bath under the falls and for enjoying the beautiful views of surroundings. Tourists can also reach a beautiful pond while climbing a few steps in the flow of the stream. Located at the footsteps of the falls, the pond is a huge enclosure formed naturally by the stream.

Gun Hill

One of the popular tourist attractions of Mussoorie is the Gun Hill, which is well-known for its historical significance that dates back to the pre-independence era. It is believed that a canon was fired from the place at a fixed time on every afternoon. This firing at the hill provided an idea of time to the local residents of the destination and they adjusted their watches accordingly. It is located at a height of 400 ft above The Mall and at present has a water reservoir. This hill offers a majestic view of the snow-capped mountain range of the great Himalayas. Gun Hill can be easily reached by the ropeway service, which frequently operates for transfer of passengers and visitors can even reach the place by trekking.
