What are the reasons for irregular menstrual cycle

Today, many women as well as young girls suffer from menstrual disorders and one among them is irregular menstrual cycle. Although, menses are really very painful for most of the women, but irregular menstrual cycle is not a very good symptom and this may cause many health issues in women as well as may cause infertility. Can anyone provide reasons for irregular menstrual cycle?

Irregular menstrual cycle have become quite common among young girls. There are two main reasons for irregular periods: change in the contraception method and estrogen and/or progesterone imbalance (hormones which regulate the menstrual cycle). Other reasons include significant gain or loss of weight, excessive exercising, alcohol consumption and even eating disorders causes irregular menstrual cycle. Apart from these, Thyroid disorders, using of contraceptives, Emdometriosis etc.
