Most of the Indian population are vegetarian and it is mainly due to religious beliefs and many can only afford vegetarian food as animal meat and fish comes quite expensive. Although non-vegetarian food is quite famous in India, about more than 40% of Indian population practices vegetarianism. Most prominent states in India that practices vegetarianism are Gujrat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Maximum number of people from these states are vegetarian.
