Indian at heart

Hi All,
I have always been a great fan of the game of cricket, besides being a player of repute myself in my heydays. I always felt a sense of pride whenever our cricketers won any international match, be it a one-day game or a test match. But I fail to understand all this brouhaha over the IPL games (?). I would never call it a sport in the first place. Its pure business and showmanship.
Just who are are players playing for, not for the nation in the least, not even the state (since the teams are comprised of jumbled players). They are all playing for personal gains (just look at the ugly amount being dished out by the sponsors). I get a feeling that a lot of illegal (black) money is involved in the games, besides political and underworld connections of course.
In what way is the general public benefiting from these so called 'games'. Its only the sponsors, team owners, the players, politicians and other business establishments who are laughing their way to the banks, particularly at a time when the country is going through a crisis of sorts, with the rising prices of essential commodities and widespread unemployment.
The amount of money spent on these mindless 'games' could have been channelized in other nation building causes. I appeal to each and every true Indian to just boycott these games. Come on guys, lets hear from you....
