Indian cinema is now spreading its horizons and visions. It is now only limited to those love triangles and monotonous family melodrama, but it has been changed incredibly. Especially in regard of the women, many new things have been introduced through the medium of Indian movies. However, we cannot say that Indian movies have glorified the image of women after seeing so much of ojectification of women in the items songs, but still there is another facet of Indian cinema that is making movies which are women based and they represent women as a powerful entity in the Indian society. "Gulab Gang" movie is one such very recent and big example that is purely a woman based movie and shows women as evolving through different phases of their struggling life. Such women based movies do reflect the true picture of the Indian women in our society who are constantly trying to survive among the male chauvinists and empowering them in many of the aspects of life. Such movies are quite inspiring and encouraging and also they introduce the audience with the spontaneity and determination of the Indian women. Women based movies are good to watch since they depict at best that what are the real struggles the urban as well as the rural Indian women are facing and not only facing, but how do they manage to fight against those struggles that make them a true winner in the society. Such movies should be encouraged and kudos to those directors who choose such flaring issues that need to be brought into the light.

Indian movies have taken a firm initiative in making movies portraying women as the heroes. Ancient times had defined women as a piece of art, calmness and born to subjugation. But now, the scenario has changed a lot, these women are making Bollywood hits even in the absence of any heroes in their films. Various movies such as Akira, Gulab Gang, English Vinglish, Queen, Chak De India, Kahani, Mardaani has brought the actual inner power and strength of women to the big screens. These are the reels which are need of the time. Film industries should be encouraged to throw lights on such issues so that this society can change it’s mindset regarding women. It is one of the best adopted ways of spreading women empowerment.
