15th January is absolutely a day of pride and honour for the Indian Army and for the entire nation and this day is fundamentally celebrated as the Indian Army Day. It has been sixty six years now Indian Army celebrating this day. It is a day to celebrate the triumph and bravery of our great soliders who have had put their whole and soul to safeguard their motherland. Besides this, the main reason of celebrating this day is that on 15th January 1948 Lieutenant General Kodandera Madappa Cariappa (K.M Cariappa) accepted the charge as the first Commander –in-chief of the Indian Army from Sir Francis Butcher, who was the last British Commander. Hence, this day reminds us of this remarkable event in the history of Indian Army. The celebration is held in the National Capital of New Delhi and various parades and momentous shows are organized under the presence of all Army Commands.

Usually the celebration is initiated by a homage paid at the Amar Jawan Jyoti that is further followed by the military parade those depict the achievements of the Indian army in terms of technology and procurements in the past years. Since it is the time to pay homage to the brave soldiers thus the celebration is never accomplished without the Bravery Awards that are given to the commendable soldiers. During the parade the exhibition of T- 90 tanks, BLT T-72, carrier Mortar Tracked Vehicle, BrahMos Missile, 155 Soltum Gun, and Advanced Light Helicopters of the Army Aviation Corps is a real eye catcher. This day is certainly a big day for the Indian Army that inspires the Army men to be faithful and serviceable towards their motherland forever.
