Aligarh is a well known place of India and is an educational hub of the nation and falls in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The city is also an industrial city and is also known as city of Locks. The place is famous for its renowned and old Aligarh Muslim University. The place is known as ‘Mecca of Education’ by the Muslims living in India. The city has a rich historical past and Aligarh Muslim University was founded by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan in 1875, who tried to model it on the Oxford and Cambridge universities of the UK.The city was ruled by the Muslims in the 12th century, when Qutub-ud-din-Aibak took control of the city and appointed the first Muslim governor of the region. Apart from the University, the place has some sightseeing destinations which include Chacha Nehru Gyan Pushp on History of Medicine, Karam Husain Museum of Science, Sir Syed Academy Museum,Maulana Azad Library, Aligarh Fort, Dor Fortress, Baba Barchi Bahadur Dargah and Black Deer Conservation Reserve.
