A single person can never be responsible for such a tragic incident. It’s true that as the CEO of the Union Carbide, warren Anderson is supposed to shoulder the responsibility of Bhopal Disaster. But at the same time, we need to find out who are the other people, whose negligence led to the leakage of gas. All those irresponsible persons should be brought to the court.

Justice for Bhopal

Our Indian government is saying that it was their duty to give a safe passage to Anderson, the CEO of Union Carbide to save him from public outrage. But Government should know that at the same time, it was also their duty to try him in court as per the law of the Land.

Congress lead Indian Government has recently announced a package for the gas victims. But My question is why have they taken such a long time to announce this package. Is it because the government is also found guilty for giving a safe passage to Anderson to flee India? Is it just a damage control measure for the political party?

25 years have already passed. It’s the time to punish all the offenders and close the chapter. Otherwise we have to try them after their deaths. After some years all of them will die of old age.

Who is responsible for Bhopal gas leak ? What should be the actions from our government now? To jail Anderson, to announce more compensation for the Bhopal gas tragedy victims or something else? Can our readers suggest?

Media at that time was (informally) under government control. Only Government channels like Doordarshan, A.I.R., were there giving news according to Govt. wishes. You are right a single person cannot be responsible for Bhopal gas tragedy. Congress recently is initiating some great projects but it should accept mistakes of it's leaders in the past. Right now, Indian National Congress is putting combined blame on couple of leaders....

The number of Bhopal Disaster victims is huge so Government should give them enough 'Per Capital Compensation'...not a compensation that looks huge on paper but when divided by thousands of people it becomes a joke.

The fight against DOW-CARBIDE should go on. India should take corrective actions aimed at prevention of such industrial tragedies in future.

It is the government of India which is responsible for the sorry state of the victims. Any private entrepreneur would invest in a venture based on his own profitability assessment. The assessment would definitely include its liabilities too. The strength of the government machinery to enforce the laws on safe operations of an industry is an important factor. The verdict in this case, demonstrates the vulnerabilities of our poor citizens. They are susceptible to suffer on account of the failure of the government machinery put in place to protect their life and property. Individuals are unimportant. The failure is Institutional and the main offender is the Indian Government. Strict actions should aim at prevention of such industrial tragedies in future.
