Disadvantages of Online shopping

Online Shopping today is one of the most favored shopping method. It is more preferred than online shopping as it saves time and anything and everything can be purchased under a single roof. However, it comes with certain disadvantages. These include:

It do not let the customer check the product physically before buying.
There is always a risk of online fraud.
There is possibility of mishandling of products while shipping.
There is a problem that arises while returning the products for any defects.
It is not possible to buy products that is required immediately.

What are the other disadvantages of eCommerce according to you?
 
Online shopping has taken over the conventional way of shopping in recent times and it is due to its convenience. There are certain other disadvantages of online shopping like some online stores do not provide free shipping below certain amount and it many cost you much more than the price of the product that you have purchased. Another disadvantage is you cannot buy food items or groceries from online stores.
 
Online shopping has become quite popular among the people all over the World. However, it has certain disadvantages and I personally faced it. One of the major disadvantages it take quite a long period to deliver furniture etc which can be easily bought from the market. Another disadvantage is that the product cannot be seen before delivery.
 
There is no doubt that online shopping is more advantageous than the old traditional way of shopping. However, it also has some disadvantages which cannot be ignored. Although, everything can be purchased through online shopping websites, perishable goods like grocery, vegetables etc cannot be purchased and this is where traditional way of shopping takes over online shopping.

I believe the lack of feel is the major disadvantage of Online Shopping. One cannot feel the product, if it is apparel, then it becomes a major disadvantage as one does not get to know the fit. There may be measurements, but the fit of the apparel on a particular body does not go the same way with everyone. I believe Online shopping is best when it comes to product where customer involvement is low, like the case of electronics and books.
 
I agree to the fact that it lacks the feel of the product but there are certain precautionary measures which can be taken while online shopping.

Use Familiar Websites: Start at a trusted site rather than shopping with a search engine. Search results can be rigged to lead you astray, especially when you drift past the first few pages of links. If you know the site, chances are it's less likely to be a rip off.
Look for the Lock: Never ever, ever buy anything online using your credit card from a site that doesn't have SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption installed—at the very least. You'll know if the site has SSL because the URL for the site will start with ******** (instead of just *******). An icon of a locked padlock will appear, typically in the status bar at the bottom of your web browser, or right next to the URL in the address bar. It depends on your browser.

Don't Tell All: No online shopping store needs your social security number or your birthday to do business. However, if crooks get them, combined with your credit card number for purchases, they can do a lot of damage. The more they know, the easier it is to steal your identity. When possible, default to giving up the least amount of information.
 
Well there are many advantages also, you can buy things , and those things which you are familiar with brand and quality easiuly from home, trust me these websites have easy very easy exchange policies, and in case nothing fits well , they even take it return without asking a question
 
There are so many disadvantages of purchasing a product online. First issue is that we can't try products before they are bought. Second thing is that the most of the websites,including the major ecommerce portals ( like Amazon and Flipkart) offer free shipping, but only if our order meets a purchasing threshold. In some cases Shipping charges can be higher than the product cost.
