Does capital punishment jeopardize our sense of the "dignity of life"?

Capital punishment, the death penalty, death sentence, or execution is a legal process whereby a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime.India is one of those countries which deliver capital punishment for severe crimes.
However the application of this punishment in the form of death penalty is a huge topic of contradiction.Many Philosophical and practical arguments are placed on this topic.
Supporters of the death penalty argue that death penalty is morally justified when applied in murder especially with aggravating elements such as multiple homicide, child murder, torture murder and mass killing such as terrorism or genocide.It would be unfair that those who have committed these horrible crimes stay alive, even incarcerated.
Abolitionists believe capital punishment is the worst violation of human rights.Of course birth and death are not in the control of man.Almighty solely has the right to give and take life.While punishing a sinner we ourselves become sinners.
Surely punishment is categorized on account of the sinner`s sin but forfeiting someone`s right to live is a crime itself.An eye for an eye will make the entire world blind someday.

A decree of capital punishment is against Article 21 of the Indian Constitution. Article 21 provides for right to life and personal liberty. However, it is a severe punishment given to a person who commits severe crime and given a chance to live might commit the same crime again. I feel it is a way to stop people from committing similar crimes as people love their lives more than anything else.

Article 21 of the Indian Constitution provides for right to life and personal liberty. It is a fundamental right and by giving death sentence is infringement of fundamental right. In my view giving death sentence is not a solution and the convict should be given a chance to reform himself and be a better person and if in case he commits the same crime again and again, then death sentence can be given.

In my view, giving death sentence or rather Capital punishment for severe crime is no wrong. Death is something that people fear the most and introducing capital punishment will help stop many crimes. As bharat said that it is violation of fundamental right as incorporated in Article 21. The Article provides that every citizen has the right to live a dignified life and personal liberty but does personal liberty means to go against law and kill someone or any other such act of disgrace? According to me Capital punishment does not jeopardize "dignity of life".

I don't think capital punishment jeopardize our sense of the "dignity of life". If it was so, then it would not have been given to anyone. Dignity of Life is to live a respectable life and not to live a life of a criminal. Capital punishment is given only to those who becomes a threat for the society and commits grave crime and it is a very rare punishment given. So, in my view it does not capital punishment jeopardize our sense of the "dignity of life".
