We can see discrimination on the basis of gender in all walks of life. Even when it comes to adoption, baby boys get preference. Although of late there has been a welcome change in this mindset, a lot more needs to be done.

Does education help reduce gender discrimination?

education is the best weapon against gender discrimination. So lets start a campaign to make the people understand the advantage of being educated. If everyone of us can teach a single person..........then its gonna be right foot forward!!! Educated INDIA........Better INDIA!!!!!

I know the general opinion that the male gender is always preference. But education has changed the opinion. Now disparity is being reducing day by day.

Yes, surely it does. But there is much more to the subject.

Does education help reduce gender discrimination?

Not always. It depends upon the circumstances so far as adoption is concerned. One has to take a round of orphanages to be able to say about it with authenticity.

Why do women always think for women and blame men for everything? Is it not gender bias?

Being impartial is difficult but necessary.

To an extent, yes. A family brings up a daughter without any bias and prejudice but the society is not willing to accept a woman at par with the male counterpart. It will take some time for the mindset to change.

yes education can do .but proper education .means qualitative education.where the people can get knowledge regarding the moral values of life rather than the material education.material education make people greedy or lure.that's why the society give more preference to boys rather than girl.some expectation is there from boys.as girls can not be always with them.

Does education help reduce gender discrimination?

I don't think that education can help to reduce gender discrimination, for a simple reason that even educated people do discriminate on the basis of gender. After so much of transformation and awareness in society still people prefer for baby boy in family. In educated families also women have to sacrifice their carriers for their in-laws families only because they are women and have to look after home and children after marriage .All other things are secondary for her after marriage...even educated men will not compromise on this and sit at home allowing his wife to work even if she earns more then him.In our constitution equal rights are given to men and women but unless and until mentality of Men dominated society is not changed this discrimination will not end.

Even in a predominently male dominated society.... an educated women is always respected anf followed, its just because of education that today we have female icons like Kalpana Chawla, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Indira Nooyi etc. Even in the past the educated women 'vidushi' were looked upon by the society....................

No, its failing to reduce it!!!

Education is supposed to open our minds and thoughts but, unfortunately it is failing to do so. Even while reading in the same class a boy and girl recieve biased education. The discrepency can be seen in the results describing the varience in performance. :(

of course yes!

It is only education taht makes people think in a better way. The upliftment of the woman can be done only if they are educated and a sensible thinker. Education teaches people men and women in an equal way that there should be no discrimination of children on teh basis of tehir gender.

Education somewhat helps you to have a social status, financial independence etc in the outside world. You may be a crores -involving decision making executive in a company, but at home you are treated very much like a slave , to be obedient to your in-laws, to your husband in particular. If he seems to be somewhat in lower capabilities, then you are a permanent slave for them.
You cannot even be free to dress, rather than to voice your opinion.

Even indian laws do not have any consideration. It seems even the law making authorities are gender paritive. See for example, a female hindu is not permitted to adopt on her own, if she is married. She has to obtain the consent from her husband. What nonsense is this? the husband eventually will marry on the grounds that this woman is not worth of child bearing. Unless the woman goes to the court for divcorce, she will not be able to adopt a child.
If in cases like mine, where my husband is not wiling for a divorce or adopting a child, i am the worst sufferer. I am deprived of this fundamental rights of human being, ie the soft touch of a baby.

Shouldnt the law be more liberalised to help women like me.

Please help me if you all know how married woman can adopt a child?

Of course yes, Eduction is the main tool in removing and reducing gender discrimination from the country. Eduction helps people to understand that men and women are equal in todays life and through education they can do all the work together and what men can do, women can also possess the same knowledge and strength through eduction.

YEs, education is the most important tool in eradicating the gender discrimination among the people. People are more prone to gender discrimination in rural areas and they hardly get their girl child to take birth. Education can definitely play an important role in wiping off this mentality from their mind.

Gender Discrimination In Rajasthan: In rural parts of Rajasthan an average wage of women is 30% lower than that of a man in same position, besides these working mothers had to fulfill their domestic responsibilities too. Moreover a strong "son preference" exists here, leading to high female infanticide and foeticide rate. And yes, it can be reduce with the help of education a lot!

Education can play a major role in reducing the gender discrimination, after all its only the ignorance and irrationality which brings in discrimination of women from men. If people are educated and made aware of equal right to opportunity and woman's importance in the society, women would surely get a better status than what prevails in the present days.

Yes, Education is the only tool that can help in removing this gender discrimination. Girls and boys are all same but people differentiate between the duo. Its all in the head. This girl and boy gap and differentiation can only be filled by providing proper education to the children and by telling the importance of each one in the life and human existence.

Gender discrimination still exist in India even after 65 years of India's Independence. India still has a patriarchal society where the man is considered as the head of the family and girls are still being considered as economic liability. Definitely proper education can not only reduce but completely remove gender discrimination as proper education will broaden the mind of the people and they will understand the importance of a girl and that they are not economic liability.

Education is a weapon that is capable of solving many issues that are faced by India whether social, political or economical. Gender discrimination is a long persisting issue that India has been facing and definitely with proper education, this issue can be solved. Due to lack of proper education, people still think that girls are liability but today, women has reached the moon and they are no more liability. This notion can only be changed through education.
