Durga Puja is one of the major festivals celebrated in India, especially in the States of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Tripura and Assam. It is celebrated with grandeur and splendor. During this time people are all in festive mood and wear new clothes. Exchange of gifts take place during this festival. It starts of the 6th day know as Maha Sashti, where the idol of Goddess Durga is brought and set up. The main puja starts from the seventh day i.e Saptami and continues till the 4 days and is celebrated with pomp and show. On the last day i.e Vijaya Dashami, the idol of Goddess Durga is immersed in the rivers and seas. During this festival people socialize with each other. People go to various pandals to witness the puja and eating-out is common during this festival.

The festival marks the Glory and victory of Goddess Durga over buffalo demon Mahishasura. Durga Puja in West Bengal is worth seeing and offers delight to the eyes.
