Female literacy rate in India

Education is one of the most important thing that every child should get. People who are poor usually do not send their children to study as they do not have enough money to survive. The rate of literacy is quite low in india as children are not getting proper education especially girls. They are forced to marry at the tender age and the burden of work is put on their shoulders to bear. Literacy rate in India is rising gradually but anyway the female literacy rate in India is lower than that of male. As per the data of 1997, the states of Kerala and Mizoram approached universal female literacy rate. I just hope that the literacy rate for girls as well as boys should go up in the coming years from now.
 
Literacy is indeed an effective way for economic and social development as well as national integration. It’s defined as census operation, as the capability to write and read with understanding in various languages. Any formal minimum education or education standards are not required to be considered as a literate person. The latest census reports of 2001 shows that at the starting of millennium the literacy rate was 65.38% in India with literacy rate of male is 75.85% whereas the female literacy rate is 54.16%. The increase in rate of percentage is very minimal since 1991. It is still not that much higher when compared to 2001 census.
 
Though people and parents know the importance of education but still they are not sending their children to study because they do not have have to fill the fees of school and many poor people think that if they have more children they have more earning hands. This is the reason they usually avoid sending their children especially girls to school. The female literacy rate is hence down in comparison to the male literacy rate. they send their girl child to work in houses and debarred them from studies.
 
though there has been an increase in the female literacy rate but still there are many rural areas where girls are not sent to school for studying in comparison to boys. Boys are given all importance in comparison to girls and they are treated as the heir of the family. Girls literary rate in rural areas are degrading day by day. Parents need to be more vigilant.
 
I think female literacy rate in india is low in comparison to other countries. I am not agree with the above statement as india is still a developing country where girls child are killed inside the womb and females are not allowed to study and go out of their houses.
 
Education For Girls In India: To improve sex ratio and limit family size in India, Indian Government has introduced free scholarships schemes for single girl children up to post graduate level from class VI onwards. This scheme is applicable for all government affiliated or aided colleges and schools.
 
Fellowships For Higher Education Of Girls In India. CBSE conducting engineering and medical entrance examinations for indian students will now offer 500 fellowships on merit basis each year for such courses, UGC will provide Rs 2000 scholarship every month to 1st and 2nd rank holder girls in B.Com B.Sc, and BA courses so that Indian girls could pursue higher-degree.
 
Educational problem of women in India is rising high. The ministry of Education clubs girls with Scheduled Castes and Tribes are the three most backward groups in education. Realizing the enormity of the problems of Indian women the Government of India has appointed a separate committee on the status of Women in India. The social backwardness of Indian women points to the great hiatus between their legal status which is more or less equal to that of men and their actual position in society which is still far from the ideal which exists on paper.
 
Females are not getting the proper education as they should get. Literacy rate in India is just 74.04% in 2011. 82.14 males per 100 male are literate and only 65.46 out of 100 females are literate. Literacy in rural areas is worse than urban India. 7 out of 10 districts are in Kerala state according to the literacy rate.
 
Education is the best way to empower women as they become aware of their rights. It has been observed that there has been a noteworthy improvement in the literacy rate of women in India, nevertheless it has not reached to the maximum in comparison to the other nations. It has grown up to 74.04% in 2011 which is really worth noting.
 
Education is the first step to progress and development of an individual and the nation as a whole. Women are a part of the society and they too have the right to receive education. However, there has been a remarkable growth in the overall literacy rate. The female literacy rate has also seen an escalation. It is 65.46%. Literacy is extremely important for empowering women in India. However the growth is positive and is in the rising trend.
