Indian economy has developed to a great extent since the time of Independence and it was possible because of the contribution of some of the Great Indian economist. Here is some of the Great Indian economist and their contribution.

Prof Jagdish N. Bhagwati: Prof Jagdish N. Bhagwati India who was was born in the year 1934 in Mumbai is one of the leading international trade economists. He served the UN as Special Adviser on issues like globalization. Further, he also worked as External Adviser to WTO Director General., India. He has received several esteemed awards including the Bernhard Harms Prize (Germany), the Mahalanobis Memorial Medal (India), the Freedom Prize (Switzerland), etc.

Amartya Sen: Amartya Sen is one of the most renowned economist of India and has gained recognition all over the World. He was awarded the Prestigious Noble Prize for welfare economics in market oriented economics. He was born in West Bengal and has taught economics in many institutes around the World.

Arindam Chaudhuri: A renowned Indian economist, who is the founder of "The Great Indian Dream Foundation" and "Planman group of companies". He has received several awards for his contribution in the economic sector of the country. He was also appointed as the Consultative Committee member in 2004 for the Planning Commission of India.

India has produced some great economists who have earned name and fame around the World making India proud. They have contributed towards the economic development of the nation. One among such is Dr. Manmohan Singh, the present Prime Minister of India. He is one of the renowned economist of India and was also appointed as the finance minister in 1991 when India went through major economic crisis. He introduced economic liberation and Indian economy developed to a great extent.
