How and When was the East India Company formed?

The English East India Company was formed in 1599 AD. Queen Elizabeth I, issued a royal charter to it in 1600 so that it could trade in the East. Following the lead of the English, the Dutch formed their East India Company in 1602 while the Danish did the same in 1616. Even the French established the French East India Company in 1664.

Interesting facts to know! Many of us just talk about the East India Company without knowing about its formation and hierarchy. What i just knew was that it was made to exploit the indian resources for making products which were sold at higher prices to gain more profits. Nevertheless, the English East India Company now has been taken over by an indian which proves that we lag nowhere.
