India should have One Child Policy

Problems we are facing due to Population.

1. The rapid increase in India's city population has resulted in the growth of what are called slums or squatter settlements resulting in serious social, economic, and environmental problems.

2. A related concern is that of food security. There has been a repeated concern that India’s population growth might outstrip increases in food output.

3. the government's cost of storing and handling the distribution of grain has greatly increased, availability of grains to the poorest of the poor has actually worsened. Moreover, diminishing soil productivity has been increasing costs of production thus increasing the burden of subsidies that are provided to a small section of India's farmers.

4. shortages of resources makes things even worse, especially for the poor and underprivileged. Even as sections of India's lower-class struggle with scarcities - it is the poor and vulnerable sections of society who suffer most

5. So far, these resources have been shared in a very unequal way. Some Indians have the luxury of taking long showers twice or thrice a day - even their pets are bathed daily, and their cars scrubbed from top to bottom. Other Indians are lucky if they get to bathe once a week.

6. In addition to the problem of scarce resources, high population growth also has serious social consequences. As is already quite evident, industrial growth can, and is taking place with virtually no increase in the demand for labor. Improved agricultural implements and expanded availability of tractors and mechanical threshers and harvesters has meant that there has been little growth in the demand for agricultural labor.

7. So far, most sections of India's elite have done little to push for a serious population policy. In large part this has been because they have benefited from this unending supply of cheap labor. But this unending supply of cheap and largely unskilled labor also has serious unrecorded economic consequences. In the global market, this puts Indian industry at a competitive disadvantage rather than advantage.

Yes or No

Do you think India should have One Child Policy ?

Hi
All the points told by you are right but we cannot enforce any one to have just one child what the better way to control this to make people educated and there is changes in India now many knows that having one child is better so its improving and i feel only educating the country can solve this not putting any policy or rule.
remember your comment on some post we are democrotic country and this type of rules will not help

One child policy in India

The more of the population increase is in rural area or because of the people who are uneducated. The urban people are already following the measure to prevent population increase. Therefore, the first and foremost action that should be taken is to educate these people and give them free medical support so that there can be control over the population rise. Having one child is a good thought, but then this is an individual’s opinion.

yes india should adopt one child policy as this would substantially reduce the population outburst india is facing. people who stick to multiple child policies should plan properly about their families as there is lot of expenditure required for normal living and so producing many childs without thinking of a secure future is futile.

india is a nation facing population outburst. this has to be controlled because india is a developing nation but not developed nation. there is no match between the rates of consumption and rates of production. the consumption rate is exceeding drastically due to increase in population, and in such cases adopting a One child policy will help control the soaring figures of population.

one child policy is a choice not an enforcement, what is the need of hour is to tell each and every person what are the advantages of having one child and having a dozen.then ,i am sure every body will go for one child as their wish.we are seeing a drift from a larger family to shrinking one,it is good.and i hope the drift will get the velocity when we educated one speak about it to others.

Witnessing the increasing population of India, the one child policy should be adopted. Like China, India should also impose fine for having more than one child and law should be passed as this can be an effective way to control the increasing population growth of India and will also help in resolving several other issues and Indian economy will also develop.

I agree with you. Seeing the present economic condition of our nation, which is mainly due to the population explosion, India should stringently follow the one child policy. Mostly, it has been witnesses that people from economically backward condition have more children than the one who come from a decent or rich economic background and this rule should be imposed in India for betterment and development of the nation as well as will help in controlling the population growth.

i personally dont think that there is a need to adopt a one child only policy...yes china has implemented it ...but what many people dont know is that to give rise to a heir of the family(son) ...mothers are forced to kill baby girls ....just imagine....one girl could have grown to be a leading scientist...a social activist....the next business tycoon....and who knows she may have even grown to be a promising leader of the nation....however even if there is no policy....many children are killed anyways or are abandoned...lets say even if such a one child policy comes into place....over 90% of the population wont implement it.....and even if they do....we can expect a much lower girl to boy ratio than there already is....adopting such a policy is not the answer.....truth is education is key.....but truth is the whole education system is corrupt....truth is we need new leadership....

Everyone has a different perspective to look at things and so do you. You are right on many things, however, having one child policy does not mean killing a baby girl. It should be so that no matter if it is a girl or a boy, a couple should have only one child and this will help in reducing the problem of population growth, which is actually hampering the growth and development of our nation. One child policy if adopted, should be implemented strictly and then only we can expect its success.
