India, at the moment, is regarded as the largest democracy in the global arena and definitely, maintenance of this democratic structure, in spite of lots of ups and downs, has been a great success of this post-independent nation. A number of agencies have played commendable roles in this context and one of this is certainly the Indian Election System.

It can be said with conviction devoid of the effective role of the Elections system ; India couldn’t have stayed as a constitutional democracy in conjunction with a parliamentary system of government. The basis of this happens to be the pledge to hold free and fair elections at regular intervals. It is to be noted that only the Indian elections settle on the ultimate composition of the government along with the membership of the bicameral parliament, the state and union territory legislative assemblies.

Elections in sphere of India are nothing else save events entailing political mobilization along with organizational complexity on an astounding extent and with the passing of ages, this is increasing by leaps and bounds. In each and every election a significant rise in the number of candidates is witnessed and all these make the India's Election System more attention-grabbing.

Can this be called as the maturity of Indian democratic system? This is a million dollar question and there is no straight answer to the same. There have been an assortment of criticisms of the Indian Election System thus far and as per many pundits, it has several defects and the people in the management are not inclined to revamp the same.

Is the Election System in India losing its own character? This allegation is also rising but the time has not come yet to make any such accusation certain. Whatever may be problems; the Indian Election System has been able to retain its impartiality and has not been found to abide by the instructions of any political party blatantly.

Indian Election System can be depended on. what do you proud Indians think ?
 
There are many flaws in the election system as the elections being organized are not fair enough to let the new parties or people to stand in the elections. The Indian election system cannot be relied upon as the major candidates manage to spend huge amounts of money to gain popularity. Even the electoral poll counting is sometimes flawed.
 
The democratic India has always given rights to the citizens to choose their leaders, who they believe can lead them in a better and convincing way. The election system of India has empowered its citizens to vote for the right person; not to rule the nation but to lead the convoy to the horizon of success. To make the election system error free and effective, various majors are taken in order to get judicious results. However, the elections system even after so much of effort is facing problems and is not showing its true color and this is because we the people of India do not realize the power of our voting rights. Just by saying that we do not find the right person to vote, we do not participate in the election system and this completely destroys the real impact of elections. It is not only our birth right but also our responsibility to vote, because if the educated people will not participate, then we will surely never have a literate growing India.
 
india is facing crisis in political system. the major reason being indian election system which is ineffective, and corrupt. politicians after making huge amounts of money spend that money during the elections to grab hold of votes of the innocent people. the election system should be made more secure and free from political influences.
 
in my view the election system is completely flouted. lots of mal practices take place during the election. most of the political parties spend money to grab hold of votes. the voting machines are manipulated. what else is left??? when machines and people are manipulated why is there a voting system??
 
no wonder india has the largest democracy and there are many political parties competing during the elections. at such times it becomes difficult to monitor all the parties for their honest working. but if indian police works independently without coming into any political pressure, i think lot more can be done to make the elections clean.
 
You cannot blame the indian election system a bad as thee are flaws in the people the politicians and the people who do publicity or are responsible for conducting elections. the election system was and is good but the people who are involved in the things related to election commision are all corrupt that makes the system bad as well.
 
College for Politicians


First of all we Indians must rid ourselves of criminals entering politics. There should be a college dedicated to educating politicians. Any Indian over 25 years with a minimum plus two qualification can apply for admission whereby he will undergo a 3 year training in the various fields like finance, defence , environment,health,welfare etc etc. After he successfully completes this course he is then eligible to stand for election.

At least by this method we can be assured that a person with a certain amount of caliber will be serving the country.
 
In my view there are some flaws in the Indian election system, for instance no background of any participating candidate is scrutinized and this is the reason there are many criminals in our politics. Moreover the elections do not take place fairly, for instance there are rallies and huge amounts of money being distributed among to people to gain votes. In such a system, we cannot hope to get fairly elected candidates.
 
Each and every election system is said to have minor flaws. Instead of pointing out the flaws, the politicians have to make their way right. Now the people have gained a fair knowledge regarding the politicians, parties and have been voting in a right way at present. Election results is more determinative.
 
The election is one of the basic traits of Democracy as it means a government which is " For the people, of the people and by the people". However, the Indian Election system is loosing its character. The election held in India is just for the sake of it and no such rules as well as ethics are being followed. It needs a great change as this is the only way to save the democracy prevalent.
 
I think there is new hope for the Indian Democracy this year! I really think this election will be different that’s why I'm up to date with all election news- on tv (NDTV 24/7) , Newspaper (The Hindu) and mobile ( I SMS @elections to 511 15 everyday!)
