Chief Justice of India Balakrishnan on asked the Indian media not to interpret judgments of Courts , observing it leads to distortion of real facts.
"Very often it has been observed that Indian media reports project a distorted version of the real facts , Case and the judgments delivered by the Indian courts," Balakrishnan said.
Addressing a workshop on "Reporting on court proceeding on Indian media and administration of justice" and "Implementation of national rural employment guarantee scheme", he asked the Indian media to report court proceedings "correctly" so that Indian people are not deprived of justice.
Urging the senior Media editors to intervene and ensure that right versions of judgments should be reported in The Indian Media, the Chief Justice said there should be some moral bindings on Indian journalists while reporting court proceedings.
"Indian media is the Fourth Estate of Indian democracy and so they have to behave responsibly and work for the development of the society and the people of India ," Balakrishnan said.
The Chief Justice had a word of praise for the NREGA scheme and said the Narega has been an instant success and helped in a big way in removing Unemployment in India.
