IRCTC to charge Service Tax on e-tickets from April 1, 2013

IRCTC levies a service charge of Rs 10 per e-ticket in case of sleeper class (SL) and second sitting and Rs 20 per e-ticket in case of all other classes (1AC, 2AC, 3AC, CC, FC) irrespective of the number of passengers on an e-ticket.

I guess its not just this, as per the rail budget 2013, the reservation charges, the fares for super fast trains and cancellation charges are also going to shoot up. In short, travel through rail is going to become costlier and we still do not know if the quality of travel would improve. Security on the other hand also remains in question. How do you think railways should come up with a solution without levying much burden on the shoulders of the citizens?

Yes all prices are being increased in addition they are adding taxes to it.This tatkal system also I am unable to understand as there is a doubt that how the tickets are available for tatkal which are not for normal booking.I think it is a benefit scheme railways have made for them.
