India is a soft nation form every aspect and the nation is an epitome of love, non-violence, tolerance and sacrifice. There are many instances since the time of Independence that have proved India as a soft nation. The Government Policies are such that it makes the nation soft and many countries takes advantage of this. One of the instances is that Pakistan has illegally occupied the northern part of Kashmir since the time of Independence and India is still trying to sort out this major issue through talks and discussions. India is a peace loving country and wishes to solve every problem with peace and non-violence.

Is India a soft nation according to you?

India is without any doubt a Soft Nation. However, being soft does not mean that India is a weak Nation rather India is capable of tolerating and still standing firm in all odds. India is a peace loving nation as well as follows the policy of non-violence. India deals with every problem in the same manner and with the same approach. People of India are kind-hearted and this too makes the Nation a soft nation.

India is definitely a Soft Nation, especially in case of terrorism. It was evident from the 26/11 attack on Mumbai and the way India treated the accused. In case of Assam terrorist group ULFA who had killed so many lives and had made Assam a place of terror, the Government instead of punishing them is more interested in peace talks. This softness at the cost of the people of the Nation is of no use and it is better to be a strong and tough nation rather than being a soft nation.

No! Time has changed now. Five and half years of Narendra Modi government in power is not only about the good governance, but about the changed mindset in the polity. After the 'surgical strikes' against Pakistan and 72 days long India-China doklam standoff, no country takes us lightly. Now India has started taking hard decisions and using power, if the situation demands.

India is often perceived as a soft nation due to its diplomatic approach, emphasis on non-violence, and commitment to peaceful conflict resolution. However, this perception doesn’t fully reflect the reality. India is not a soft nation when one looks at its assertive actions in areas of defense, foreign policy, and internal security.

Reasons Why India Isn’t a Soft Nation:

1. Strong Military Capabilities: India maintains one of the world’s largest and most powerful armed forces, with nuclear capabilities and advanced defense technologies. Its readiness to act in self-defense has been demonstrated in events like the surgical strikes in 2016 and the Balakot air strikes in 2019.

2. Firm Stance on National Security: India has taken tough measures against terrorism and insurgency, both within and outside its borders. It has strengthened counter-terrorism efforts and maintained a strong security presence in sensitive regions.

3. Assertive Foreign Policy: India has increasingly taken bold positions on global issues, balancing ties with major powers like the U.S., Russia, and China while protecting its own interests—especially in regional conflicts and border issues like the Galwan Valley standoff.

4. Strong Legal and Political Framework: Internally, India has taken tough decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir, showing its willingness to act decisively on sensitive issues.

India may prefer diplomacy over aggression, but it is not soft when it comes to defending its sovereignty, strategic interests, and security.
