Yes in my view Indian Media to a certain extent is biased towards the North-Eastern States. They do not broadcast many news from that region and ignore them completely although these news may be of national concern. North-east have always been neglected in every way and the Indian Media too is doing the same. However, in recent times, it is seen that the attitude of Indian Media has changed towards North-eastern states and the news related to NE are being broadcasted.

I do not agree with you that Indian media is biased towards the North-Eastern States because North-East have been in the highlight since quite some time in the Indian media. North-east, today gets equal priority like any other region of the country. Nevertheless, the region had been neglected in the earlier times and that too was for its remoteness and lack of proper transportation and communication. Now, North-east is given equal importance and infact they are given more priority today.

I completely agree with you. Indian Media is not baised towards North-Eastern States. They cover every problem that is faced by North Eastern states today. That part of India has come to the limelight only because of media and this proves that Indian Media is not biased towards north-eastern states.

Yes the mainstream media is biased. They never report the good things that are happening in the North East. You will find only bad news coming in from there. Killings and extortion are only in the news. Perhaps the central government needs a whipping boy to vent their frustrations whenever their own ministers fall in the limelight for indulging in malafide activities. The press too then hypes it up to up their ratings. Why would one killed in say Assam gain more importance, than 5 killed in Maharashtra? This has a disturbing effect on people on of the North east staying in other states. It makes them feel alienated and they tend to be in groups even in schools and colleges. What makes it worse is the derogatory and lewd remarks passed on to them by other Indians. Why do the media cleverly skirt this issue and thus help in propagating it further? Why do the media never even speak of the wonderful places for tourism in the North east and how friendly and warmhearted people live there? How about the immense scope of attracting sports people living there (think Mary Kom)? How about the fact that majority of people living India get their morning cup of tea from the North east? Aren't they proud Indians too?
