Well, we can find many posters, wallpapers, and graffiti asking to hang the rapists whosoever they might be. I feel the punishment should not be this stringent. Not for sake of showing leniency on the culprits but i feel that punishment could stretch upto life sentence and not death sentence. Its just my point of view. What is yours?

I agree that rapist should not be hanged as death is an easy escape but life imprisonment in India is just for 14 years, which is not enough in my opinion. The best solution to decrease the number of rape cases that are increasing day by day is castration or they should be given imprisonment until natural death. But is surely agree that hanging the rapist cannot be a good solution and they will not get the punishment that they actually deserve for such hideous crimes.

I completely agree with you. Rapist should not be hanged rather should be punished severely and i agree that 14 years life imprisonment is not enough for a rapist rather the convict of such hideous crimes should be given sever punishment and should be given life long imprisonment and they should not be allowed even to meet their relatives and near & dear ones.
No it is not right to hang the rapists as it will be an easy escape for them. Rather they should be given severe punishment and should be forced to repent on their action. Castration can be one of the punishments that will prohibit other people to get involved in such a shameful and hideous crime. May be by doing this, the number of rapes in our country can be reduced or rather eliminated.

Castration seems to be a pretty good option to me. But this punishment should only be given when it is absolutely certain that the accused is guilty of the crime committed. Rarely, few women falsely accuse men of raping and in such cases castration cannot be an option as its an irreversible process. If the crime is certain to have taken place, then the guilty can be castrated and that would be the apt punishment for the crime. I think we should take a voting for this? What say?
