Jhalong lies on the bank of river Jaldhaka on the India-Bhutan border and is known for its picturesque. Jhalong is a small village in Kalimpong in the Darjeeling district in West Bengal. The village has a hydroelectric project on the river which attracts a horde of travelers in and around the place. The village is a major birdwatching destination as it is an adobe of some rare varieties of birds as well as migratory birds are also to be found here. It is a heaven for birdwatchers and the place offers a view of birds like kingfisher, brown dipper, redstart and laughing thrush. It is also a favorite destination for adventure lovers as it is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas.
