Researchers of Adelaide's Flinders University are on the way to develop mobile phones that would not require any towers. This would be a whole together new technology with more reliability and agility since people wouldn't need to rely on towers for networks. So people could make calls from almost anywhere, even if there are no towers. This project is taken up as an inspiration after the telecommunication network went down in Haiti due to earthquake.

Interesting to know that if mobile can be carried far off the places without the worry of accessibility of network, how wonderful would that be. I think even Indian students should take up such projects during their graduation and innovate something for our country.

I guess we are now moving to a new age. Things are getting complicated and yet made to look as if simple. We strive to make things simpler by using complex technology. But before bringing such new technology we should consider all the loopholes and vulnerabilities of the technology! Agree?

That would be awesome. There would never be a problem of network problem, or any other issues. It would work like satellite phones and might be costly too.

Thanks,
Kiran
