Rajasthan is the ultimate destination of most tourists, its capital Jaipur, is just four hours run from Delhi by road and there are air connections to most cities of the State. But a novel and exciting way to cover this State of erstwhile maharajas and nobility is to go by the Palace of Wheels. This train has been assembled with vintage saloons bearing the coats of arms of royal families. Smartly liveried attendants who seem to have stepped out of history books, minister to your needs as they conduct you from Delhi to Jaipur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaislermer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur and Agra and leave you back in Delhi.

It is 7 nights and 8 days of oure enchantment -- for you to experience what it is to be a 'Maharaja'! At night the Palace moves and stopes and savour the traditional Rajput hospitality at leisure. The saloons have twin and four bedded cabins and the journey is smooth and pleasant. State of the art and amenities enhance the pleasure of travelling in this fascinating train. Each saloon has two toilets, hot and cold water facilities and the furnishings are modern but in traditional designs. Indian and Continental cuisine is available. Added attractions are the excellent Bar and a small, but well stocked, Library. It is only the gentle, rhythmic movement of the train and the vendors that come selling their attractive wares at the stations, that give away that you are on a train and not in a palace. Another train, The Orient Express, takes you in similar style through Rajasthan to Gujarat and back to Delhi.
