The state of Assam has been facing consistent flood and this year it has been even more. With the mighty river Brahmaputra flowing across the State, the land faces the problem of flood every year. It has been reported that 77 people killed and about 2 million were affected due to monsoon flood. The Brahmaputra and its tributaries have broken the banks after rain and have washed away many houses, bridges, roads and pipe lines. The flood has affected the animals as well as many Tea-garden area which is the major revenue generating sector in Assam. The long persistent problem is generally neglected by the state Government and no measures have been taken till today to control it. What are the effective measures that can be taken to control flood?
