Sarojni Naidu is renowned as The Nightingale of India. She was a great patriot and was the first women President of the Indian National Congress and the first lady Governor of free India. She was born on February 13, 1879 in Hyderabad. She was a learned lady and contributed immensely towards the freedom movement of India. She was deeply moved by the Bengal partition in 1905 and this made her get involved in the freedom movement. She was renowned as a great poet. She worked for women empowerment and women education and thus her birthday is celebrated worldwide as Women's Day.
