Self-Esteem Issues among the Indian Youth

It is always better not to be glued to the superficial things but to see what lies at the core. The same idea applies to the human beings, seeing and judging them on the basis of their superficial and outer looks and features will not make anyone receptive to the original personality. And it's also a matter of concern that how does one feel about and perceives his/her personality. Creating an ideology and thinking pattern about one’s valuation or worth is what we may understand by the concept of Self-esteem. Having a higher self-esteem shows that the person feels truly worth and elevated about one’s self but on the contrary people with low self-esteem tend to feel inferior, worthless and pessimist about themselves. Indian youth is found to face self-esteem issues these days to a greater extent. They tend to feel themselves as inferior, incompetent, invaluable and unworthy. And these emotions are based upon the contrived beliefs the youth has cultivated in their minds. Youth has attached their self worth and competency with false factors that only lead them to stress and emotional imbalances. The youth of today is too much conscious of their outer looks, physical beauty, status, extroverts and physical appearance while they totally oversight the relevance of talents, skills and other specialties in their personality. This leads them to face many psychological turmoil and frictions in the relationships. And most of all these they tend to weaken their self-esteem to a much greater extent.

Youth should interpret the things with their basic meanings, self esteem was never attached and dependent upon the physical appearance, it is temporary and not going to stand by you forever but what will remain with you forever is your basic nature, talents, intelligence, knowledge and skills that you have acquired so far and these are the only features that help you in raising your self esteem and letting it down as well. It is up to the youth which way they want to choose for maintaining their self-esteem. Self- esteem should never be declined because if that goes down, the morale and confidence of the person starts getting vanishing.
