Shanti Tigga is another name of not an ordinary Indian woman, she happened to be the First Female Jawan to be selected in the Indian Army. She had been exemplary for all other women of her age and showed to them that Indian women are bold enough to pave any way for themselves and if they want they can even kneel down the male dominance in any field of work. Shanti was a mother of two kids when she was selected as a Jawan in the Indian Army; she had defeated all other male counterparts while giving her physical tests during the selection. She was just 35 years old when she moved out to fulfil her dream of working in the Indian Army. She was extremely fit to qualify the 50metre run during her tests that she completed in 12 seconds. She also surpassed her male counterparts in the 1.5km run, in the year 2011 Shanti qualified the tests to join the 969 Railway Engineer Regiment of Territorial Army. She was honoured with the title of Best Trainee and her firing instructor was so much impressed with her skills of handling the guns that she also acquired the highest position of Marksman. Joining the Indian Army was her biggest dream and she was determined to be selected there. In the year 2013 on May 11 she was abducted after her duties in the evening, she was posted as a point-man at Chalsa station in the district. She was later found blindfolded and tied to a post near railway tracks after a week of which she was found being hanged in the cabin of the hospital of Jalpaiguri district.
