Shekhawati is known as ‘open art gallery of Rajasthan’ for the presence several forts, havelis and other historical monuments. It is a desert area and has a rich historical past. It is believed that the sacred Hindu scriptures "Vedas" were written in this part. Shekhawat Rajputs are the rulers of this region and the historical monuments and forts are built by these rulers. The place portrays a rich Rajput culture and the Shekhawati Festival is the major festival celebrated here. Mandwa Fort, Mukundgarh Fort Haveli Nadine Prince, Morarka Haveli Museum, Dr. Ramnath A Podar Haveli Museum, Jaganath Sanghania Haveli, the Khetri Mahal and Dundlord Fort are some of the major tourist attractions of the place.
