With the decreasing number of tigers in India, the Hon'ble Supreme Court has passed an order to ban tourism in tiger reserves and has extended the ban till September. There are 41 state-run tiger reserves in India. The Hon'ble Court has also ordered the Central Government to form committees of experts to inspect the long-term implication of the ban.

According to some environmental experts that tourists damage the natural habitat of tigers. Although these natural reserves are a great attraction for tourist and it will definitely have an impact on the tourism sector, in my view, the ban on tourism in tiger reserves should continue in order to save the tigers that are in danger of getting extinct.

What do you think? Should Tourism be banned in Tiger reserves?

It is a matter of great concern that the population of tiger in India is decreasing. In my view, tourism should be banned in tiger breeding areas for sometime, till the number of tigers does not increase. It is true that tourist damages the natural habitat of the tigers and regarding the revenue that is brought in by tourism, can be later on recovered and life is more important than revenue. Government has taken initiative in increasing the number of tigers by opening natural reserve for tiger breeding.

The decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court to ban tourism in Tiger reserves is in my view one of the most perfect decisions. Due to urbanization and industrialization, the biodiversity of the nation is in great danger. The decreasing numbers of Roya Bengal tigers is really a matter of concern and the ban should continue in Tiger reserve to protect them as well as it will become more apt for breeding as well.

In my opinion the ban of tourism in Tiger Reserves should continue if we want to save the lives of the Royal Bengal tigers. The number of tigers have reduced drastically. Moreover, if tourists are allowed in the tiger servers it will further decrease the number of tigers since the construction of roads in these reserves will destroy the natural environment as well as if vehicles are allowed it will create pollution and this will have adverse affect on the environment, further decreasing the number of tigers.
