Tarakeshwar is a major pilgrimage destination of West Bengal. It is a village in the in Hooghly District. The place is considered as a pilgrimage of Shiva and most of the temples over here are devoted to Lord Shiva. The famous Taraknath Temple in this village is one of the most prominent pilgrimage destination of the place. The village holds one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of India and it is in the Tarakeshwar temple. Several pilgrims from various parts of the World visits this place all throughout the year.
