India and China are the two nations that will have a powerful role to play in the coming era which is clearly been indicated by the recent trajectories of the two states. There is a huge possibility for India and China to be the next global players. The pattern is similar to that of Germany in 19th century and USA in the 20th century.
Our value system has been the base of the eminence and continued survival. India will be hurt by any efforts to change or modify this value system. The essence of India is its culture and this fact should be borne in mind by the western civilization while networking with India. India has gained a stage on the world economics. Now its political stability is required to keep it sustained at this position. But it is also a fact that India faces threats from almost all her neighbouring countries. The most imminent threat is from China.
China’s moves will affect India and its strategies to a great extent. China’s moves are well crafted with expansion as the main motive, besides; China is also a major economic power. China has been on expansion rampage which can be well understood from its move into the Indian Ocean where it has built ports in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Also in Arabian Sea, China has built a huge naval base for Pakistan. There have been reports published recently which states this move a strategy of China to encircle and contain India. China is a strong competitor of India for the energy resources present in Middle East nations. It is an alarm for not only India but for the entire world. The strategies that China has been following and its current moves have raised concerns all over the world. As China is a communist country, its policies are ruled by the ideologies of the ruling party and not of the people. World should not ignore the warning alarm.
On the other hand, Pakistan is in no mood to resolve the Kashmir issue. Entire South Asia’s stability is endangered by Pakistan. This is a serious issue calling for a quick attention from not only India but from all the other affected nations.
India’s foreign policies are affected seriously by Nepal. This is the only Hindu country of the world which is facing lot of challenges. 13000 lives were lost in an armed revolt by the Maoist political party in 1996. The economy was badly fit after the fall of monarch. The hills are controlled largely by the Maoists. It seems it is tough for the Koirala government to find a proper solution to the problem. There is a lot of uncertainty over the situation of the monarchs and the harmony of the country.
In such situation, what are the steps need to be taken by India? How can India help Nepal in resolving the problems faced due to Maoists? India has an uncertain path ahead till the time the problems of her neighbouring countries are not resolved. India should be vigilant and should take a close look at the situation and conduct an in depth analysis of the situation on continuous basis.
