India is in the midst of a grave crisis. The Central government as well as the State government have decided to stop the hoisting of the Indian flag on Republic day at Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir which is an integral state of India. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had announced his opposition to the culmination of BJP's nationwide Ekta Yatra in Srinagar. Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh too feels likewise.
Paramilitary forces have been deployed to stop the flag march before Srinagar. But, is this right for the Indian government to stop the national flag hoisting event in Srinagar. Is hoisting the national flag on Indian soil a crime? Yes, that's what the government feels. This can happen only in India.
It's not a matter of politics or supporting BJP, but the issue is very much significant. A country that dreams of becoming a global superpower can't allow its citizens to plant the national flag on its soil. Instead, a Pakistani flag is currently waving at the onlookers at Lal Chowk, Srinagar and the government wants to keep it. Hilarious, isn't it. The world will just laugh at the Indians.
Nothing can be worse than this- in a country where Dr. Binayak Sen works for the poor in remote areas and gets life imprisonment in return, telecom minister, D. Raja stays unarrested despite costing the country a loss of 176,000 crore rupees in the 2G scam and the Central and State government prevents the hoisting of the national flag at If Indians can't plant the national flag on Indian soil, that's a matter of national shame and no political game. How weak can the government be? Giving in to the wishes of the separatists will only make them even more aggressive, more resentful against India. It will only fuel further acts of separatism in the country. So, Let's whole-heartedly support the BJP workers to unfurl the Pakistani flag and hoist the Indian tricolor at Lal Chowk on Janyary 26- the Republic Day of India.
