A municipal corporation and a major city of the Indian state of Punjab, Ludhiana is the largest city. Known as the "Manchester of India", Ludhiana is well-known all over the World for the hosiery products. It is one of the most important Industrial cities of Punjab and is also known as the Sports capital of Indi. Besides being a prominent industrial city, Ludhiana is also popular among the tourists for housing several places of tourist interest. This attribute of the city attracts a large number of tourists from various parts of the World. Some of the prominent travel places of india tourist interest in Ludhiana are:

Punjab Agricultural University Museum

Situated on the outskirts, Punjab Agricultural University Museum is one of the most prominent tourist places in Ludhiana. Built in the year 1962, the museum is within the premises of Punjab Agricultural University. This museum is a facsimile of the Land Grant of America and puts on display a lot of different items, which attracts the tourists. Ancient articles along with local arts and crafts are put on display at this museum. The Punjab Agricultural University Museum is thronged by visitors mainly during the famous “Kisan Mela”, which is held every year within the premises of the University. During this feast, several farming equipments as well as ancient utensils made of bronze are exhibited, which attracts the tourists.

Gurudwara Charan Kamal

Located in a village of Machhiwara, Gurudwara Charan Kamal is 35 km from the main city of Ludhiana. This place has gained prominence as it is believed that the first Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh took rest at this particular place during the war with the Mughals. A Gurudwara has been made in this place later on, which has now turned out to be one of the major pilgrimages for the Sikhs. During the month of December and January, an annual fair is held, which attracts the tourists from the various parts of the World.

Lodhi Fort

One of the most popular among the tourist attraction of Ludhiana is the Lodhi Fort, which dates back to 500 years. This fort was built by Muslim ruler Sikander Lodhi, which is situated on the embankment of the Sutlej River. The once-strong fortress, fundamentally a military fort, which endured many invaders, has deteriorated under the attack of the rudiments in the last five centuries.

Gurudwara Shrimanji Sahib Alamgir

Gurudwara Shrimanji Sahib is among one of the most popular Sikh pilgrimages of India, which is situated about 10 km from the city of Ludhiana in a small hamlet called Alamgir. The place where Gurudwara is built is the place where Guru Gobind Singh, the first Sikh Guru was provided protection against the Mughals by two of his devotees Ghani Khan and Nabi Khan, who were Muslims. The Gurudwara also houses a water tank, which according to mythology was a result of shooting an arrow into the land because of which water came out. This tank is considered holy by the Sikhs and it is believed that a dip in this tank will help in attaining salvation.

Phillaur Fort

A popular place that tops the lists of sightseeing for tourist in Ludhiana is the Phillaur Fort. It is located in a small town named Phillaur, which derived its name from Sanghera Jat Phul. This fort is truly an architectural wonder, which is worth visiting. Built by an Italian architect, this fort is a masterpiece in the city. The Fort houses Pir-I-Dastgir shrine also known as Abdul Kadir Galani, which was named after a Muslim saint. The fort is mainly visited for this shrine by both Muslim and Hindu pilgrims, which is a reason for its popularity.
