Jaish-e-Mohammad militant Afzal Guru, who was a convict of the Parliament attack in 2001 was hanged today after his mercy petition was rejected by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. He was in Tihar Jail for 10 years waiting for decision. However, in my opinion, hanging of Kasab and now Afzal Guru, after such a long period is nothing but UPA Government's attempt to save their image and come back into power in the 2014 election. According to me, these decisions should have been taken long time back. What do you think?

I think its just political interference which has delayed this process so much. Such sensitive issues should be taken up immediately and should not be used as a tool for getting sympathy from public for political gains. As mentioned, the delay could be very much because UPA wanted to use this as a tool to gain political edge in the upcoming elections of 2014. However i feel that there is some glitch in judiciary system which causes these delays. What are your views?

Owing to political interference, several major issues that needs immediate attention and justice is delayed. In my opinion, it was the same case with Afzal Guru the Jaish-e-Mohammad militant. He was kept in the jail as a royal guest and finally when the election is approaching, he was hanged. This is without any doubt a political edge for the upcoming election with a view that it will save UPA government.

I fail to understand the reasons behind the government's actions in the case of Afzal Guru, it was also claimed by some that he was being turned against his groups to work as a double agent. The reasons may not be clear as they include request from Intelligence Bureau to delay his hanging which was upsetting a few groups in India as well. But one thing is clear that justice could have been much swifter and the government could have been a little more transparent to the public about this.
