China is one the verge to improve its relations with Afghanistan, especially after the exit of US. Nevertheless, NATO is still trying to create stability in Afghanistan and at the same time exploring its resources. If China starts exploiting Afghan's resources, it may provoke Afghan against China and may lead to Afghan resorting to help from the western provinces. The fact that China shares its border with Afghanistan makes it more susceptible to over exploitation. Any more insights into this?
