Blastocyst is a stage of the embryo development that occurs after the morula stage. It is believed that implantation of the embryo into the walls of uterus happen during this stage and here the cell gets converted into two layers.
The blastocyst is formed in the early gestation of vertebrates. It is preceded by the morula. It possesses an inner cell mass (ICM), , which forms subsequently the embryo.
