Maruti Suzuki Kizashi Car Review

Maruti Suzuki Kizashi 2014 is a car that has not been really popular in the Indian market, which is quite understandable. India’s largest passenger car maker is known for producing vehicles that are affordable, cost-effective and fuel-efficient. If you would go up to a customer and tell him/her to shell out around Rs. 17 lakh for a Maruti Suzuki car, most would probably say no. Thus, irrespective of the top class abilities of Kizashi, it has not been able to create a following for itself. Many experts have appreciated the quality that the Kizashi delivers. In addition, the competition in this segment is quite high as Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia and Chevrolet Cruze have been really successful. Let’s take a closer look at this car, which has not really performed well but is actually really good.If one looks at Maruti Suzuki Kizashi for the first time, it seems like an upgraded version of the SX4. There is a perforated front grille that features a large chrome plated insignia of the Suzuki, which looks quite impressive. This grille is flanked by a radiant headlamp cluster that has powerful halogen lamps with side turn blinkers affixed in it. This car features a body coloured front bumper, the centre of which has a broad air dam and is flanked by bright fog lamps. Front wind screen is large, made of toughened glass and equipped with intermittent wipers. Tail lamps of this car have a distinctive look, which is a combination of elegance and sportiness. The dynamic 17-inch alloy wheels and radical dual exhausts further add to the style quotient of this car.

Interiors of Maruti Suzuki Kizashi are equally good, loaded with several comfort proving features. In fact, one would not even say that this is a Maruti Suzuki model if he/she does not know which manufacturer it is. Featuring premium leather upholstery, seats of this car are really comfortable and look quite elegant as well. Internal rear view mirror (day and night), vanity mirror for front co-passenger, leather-wrapped steering wheel and plenty of storage spaces form the USP of this executive sedan. Comfort of passengers is ensured by automatic single zone air conditioner, luggage compartment lamp, electronic power steering (EPS) and height adjustable driver’s seat. One can easily say that this sedan delivers in terms of both interiors and exteriors.

This sedan is quite advanced when as far as safety is concerned, which is unlike any other Maruti Suzuki car. There are six airbags, which includes two for the front, a side airbag for each front seat and side curtain (left and right). Other safety features include anti-pinch windows, body framework with high tensile strength steel and reliable ESP with off button. Usually, cars from Maruti Suzuki do not have so many safety features but this one is quite exceptional.

Kizashi delivers quite well when it comes to power and performance. It is equipped with a 2.4-litre engine that helps in delivering around 176 bhp of maximum power and torque of around 230 Nm. Performance of this car is quite decent and handling is reasonable as well.

To say the least, the overall package delivered by Maruti Suzuki is quite good, be it power, comfort, luxury or safety. However, the ownership cost of this car is quite high and the mileage could have been much better. Also, other brands have already established their dominance in this segment and it would be tough for Maruti Suzuki to raise the level of sales for the Kizashi.
